JDS ACTORS STUDIO CELEBRATES ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Studio’s Open House to be Held on April 30, 2011 and May 1, 2011
TEMECULA (April 5, 2011) – JDS Actors Studio is celebrating their one year anniversary with two open houses. The first one is on Saturday, April 30th from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm. The second open house will be held on Sunday, May 1st from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
The public is invited to visit the space, meet the Studio’s owners Scott and Diane Strand, and enjoy a series of one-act plays performed by current students. The plays will be presented beginning at 7:00 pm on Saturday, April 30th and at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 1st. The Studio is located at 40935 County Center Drive, Suite G, in Temecula and there is no cost to attend the open house or the plays. “We’ve had a fantastic first year,” says actor and experienced teacher Scott Strand. “These open houses are a great way for us to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who has supported us. It is also an opportunity for those who are not familiar with the Studio to come by and check us out. The one act plays are not only enjoyable – they also showcase our students’ talents.”
February’s successful Hollywood Workshop culminated with an Industry Showcase in March where acting students presented scenes and monologues to entertainment industry professionals. Thirteen of the eighteen workshop students received offers of representation.
“Diane and Scott Strand bring a professional and safe environment to learn the craft of acting,” says Shawna Sarnowski, who has two children taking acting classes at the Studio. “The Strand’s are very encouraging and honest in their approach. They are always free to give us advice and a realistic idea of how to break into the business.”
Showcase Workshop Producer Diane Strand taught the students about the business side of working in the entertainment industry. “It’s not just about having good acting skills, which is important of course. But it’s also about making a good first impression with the right supporting materials,” says Strand. “We worked on students’ headshots, portfolios, and resumes.”
JoAnn Jerrell from Direct Talent was one of the industry professionals at the workshop. “Any parent should be proud to have their young actor studying with JDS Actors Studio, says Jerrell. “They have done an outstanding job in a short period of time.”
They offer open enrollment acting classes that cater to all levels and all ages. Classes include Toddler Theatrics for four and five year olds, acting classes for six to twelve year olds, as well as acting classes for teens and adults. Workshops include Industry Showcases, Acting for the Camera, Actors Ensemble, Commercial Classes, and Public Speaking Classes. JDS Actors Studio also offers private training.

The Actors Studio was conceived to fill a void in theatrical education and instruction after the Strands created and launched an after school Drama Club for local Temecula public schools.
